Answers to the questions we hear most often.

Getting Started

What is Momentum Wealth Planning?

Momentum Wealth Planning is an independent, SEC-registered investment advisory firm. We provide tactical investment management and financial planning services to individuals and families, with a focus on managing risk through our Tactical Momentum Strategy.

How do I get started?

The first step is a complimentary consultation. We'll discuss your financial goals, risk tolerance, and how our approach may fit your situation. There's no pressure and no obligation — it's a conversation to see if we're the right fit for each other.

Where are you located? Can I work with you remotely?

Our office is based in Estero, FL, but we work with clients across the country. Most of our communication happens through virtual meetings, phone consultations, and our online client portals. Geography is not a limitation.

Is there a minimum investment?

Please reach out to discuss your situation. We evaluate each prospective client relationship individually based on the complexity of your needs and the scope of services required.

Fees & Accounts

What is your fee structure?

We charge an asset-based fee for investment advisory services, billed monthly. This fee will never exceed 1% of assets under management annually. There are no hidden fees, no commissions, and no transaction charges from us.

Full fee details are available in our Form ADV Part 2A.

What custodian do you use?

We use Charles Schwab as our custodian. Your money is held directly at Schwab — we never take custody of client funds. You'll have full access to your accounts through Schwab's platform at all times.

What types of accounts can you manage?

We manage most common account types, including:

  • Individual and joint taxable accounts
  • Traditional and Roth IRAs
  • Rollover IRAs (401k rollovers)
  • Trust accounts
  • Inherited / Beneficiary IRAs

Investment Strategy

What is the Tactical Momentum Strategy?

Our Tactical Momentum Strategy seeks to participate in market growth during favorable conditions while aiming to reduce the impact of significant downturns. We use trend analysis across multiple timeframes and options-based risk management strategies — including protective puts and covered calls — to help manage downside exposure.

What portfolio options do you offer?

We offer four portfolio models depending on your risk tolerance and goals:

  • Balanced — ~80% equity, ~20% fixed income
  • Moderately Aggressive — 100% equity with momentum focus
  • Aggressive — 100% equity with concentrated individual stocks
  • Income — ~80% equity, ~20% fixed income with covered call income strategy

How do you manage risk during a downturn?

We use three primary tools: protective put options that seek to establish a floor beneath your portfolio, covered call options that aim to generate income and reduce cost basis, and tactical cash positioning where we have the flexibility to reduce equity exposure when our trend analysis signals deteriorating conditions.

How often do you make changes to the portfolio?

It depends on market conditions. During stable, trending markets, we may make relatively few adjustments. When conditions change — such as a shift in the long-term trend — we adjust more actively. Our approach is systematic and rules-based, not reactive or emotional.

Financial Planning

Do you offer financial planning?

Yes. Every client receives access to a personal financial dashboard powered by RightCapital, where you can link accounts, track your net worth, and view your financial picture in one place. For clients who want a deeper engagement, comprehensive financial planning — including retirement projections, tax planning, and estate planning — is available at no additional cost.

Can you help with retirement planning?

Absolutely. As part of our comprehensive planning engagement, we help with retirement income projections, Social Security timing strategies, withdrawal sequencing across account types, and healthcare cost planning. We use RightCapital to model different scenarios so you can see how your plan holds up.

Communication & Reporting

How often will I hear from you?

We provide regular updates through monthly newsletters, market commentary, and performance reports. We also conduct personal review meetings to discuss your portfolio and any changes in your financial situation. You can always reach out to us directly — we don't hide behind a call center.

What are your legal obligations as my advisor?

As a registered investment adviser, we are held to a fiduciary standard. That means we are legally obligated to act in your best interest and not put our interests ahead of yours. You can review our regulatory filings, including our Form CRS and Form ADV Part 2A, for full details on our services, fees, and obligations.
